Liverpool Manager Jurgen Klopp and Portugal midfielder Bruno Fernandes were not happy and ecstatic about the 2022 Qatar World Cup. In an interview, Jorgen Klopp was asked by the reporter if he is enthused, as a football fan, about this World Cup. He immediately said no. The reporter asked again if it is because of the timing or the issues that cover the event. He said, “Both. I will watch the games anyway, but it is different. I watched an old documentary about the whole situation.
“When it was announced that Russia and Qatar were the next places for the next two World Cups, I think it was the first time in history that they announced two in one. We all know how it happened and how you can still let it happen.”
He also emphasized should not be pressured to involve in this political turmoil that Qatar faces, the players are there to represent their flags and fight with pride and patriotism, it is the job of the political figures, football organizations, coaches, and journalists to unearth those human rights violation of Qatar much earlier in order to prevent this to happen through publishing on a public platform. On the other hand, Portugal national team player Bruno Fernandes addressed the FIFA World Cup and said that he was “not happy at all” and believed that the “World Cup” should be done in a better way.
“We know the surroundings of the World Cup, what has been in the past few months, about the people that have died on the construction of the stadiums,” Portugal midfielder told reporters. “We are not happy about that at all.”
Bruno Fernandes also addresses the date of the World Cup which is not ideal and suitable as he stated “It’s not exactly the time we want to be playing in the World Cup.” He also added, “I think for everyone, players and fans, it’s not the best time. Kids will be at school, people will be working and the timings will not be the best for people to watch the games.”
“We want football to be for everyone. Everyone has to be included and involved in a World Cup because a World Cup is the world. It’s for everyone. It doesn’t matter who. These kinds of things I think should not happen at any time.”
