Swiss Stage will be from October 3 to 7 and October 10 to 13, also happening at the Riot Games Arena in Berlin, Germany. But everything wraps up nicely over at the Adidas Arena in Paris, France for the Knockout Stage happening from October 17 to 20 and October 26 to 27. Finally, the World Final will take place on November 2 at The O2 in London, England!
2024 League of Legends World Championship Prize Pool
Get ready for some epic battles, folks! The League of Legends Worlds 2024 is offering a staggering $2,225,000 in total prize money. That’s right – millions of dollars up for grabs!
The winner of this prestigious esports tournament will walk away with a massive $445,000 cash prize. Can you imagine? That’s enough to retire on! The second-placed team won’t do too badly either, with a $356,000 payday. And even the third and fourth-placed teams will be rewarded with a cool $178,000 each.
Last year, T1 reigned supreme, winning the LoL Worlds 2023 in Seoul, South Korea. Weibo Gaming put up a good fight, finishing in second place, while Bilibili Gaming took third.

If you’re looking for the best team to bet on for Worlds 2024, then T1 needs no introduction. Not only are they reigning champions of Worlds 2023, they also have a major record of winning back in 2013 and back-to-back wins in 2015 and 2016. And as if that wasn’t enough to back this team, let’s not forget how the exact same roster recently dominated the League of Legends Esports World Cup 2024, defeating one of China’s top teams for the ultimate EWC glory.
But don’t just keep your eye out on one team! Teams like Dplus and Fnatic are also highly favored thanks to their Worlds 2020 and Worlds 2011 wins respectively. Team Liquid is not someone to frown upon either, considering they finished third in the LoL EWC 2024 just two steps below reigning champs, T1.
Even though Top Esports hasn’t risen much in Worlds, save for their 3rd to 4th place in 2020 – we recommend keeping an eye out for them too! They have been one of the most consistent LoL esports teams out there, especially after they placed 2nd recently in the Esports World Cup 2024. They’re hot off the heels of the biggest esports event of the year, and they’re determined to snag that Worlds 2024 win!
Weibo Gaming, on the other hand, is out for blood. After scraping their way to the top, they landed second in Worlds 2023, relinquishing their momentary hold on the crown to give it to T1. The heat is on, and if there’s a team more ferocious and desperate to get a Worlds 2024 victory, it’s gotta be them.

League of Legends Worlds 2024: Tournament Format
Play-In Stage: The Warm-Up
Lol Worlds 2024 kicks off with the Play-In Stage (September 25th – 29th). This is where eight teams will battle it out in a Double Elimination format. Think of it like a survival match – lose twice, and you’re out. Matches here will be Best-of-Three (Bo3), so you’ll need to win two out of three games to advance. The top four teams from this stage will move on to the Swiss Stage, while the rest will say goodbye.
Swiss Stage: The Main Event
Next up, we have the Swiss Stage (October 3rd – 7th and 10th – 13th). This is where the real action in Worlds 2024 begins! Four teams who succeed in the Play-In Stage will join the twelve teams that have already qualified from China, South Korea, Europe, and North America.
With a total of 16 teams, the first round will see teams face opponents from different regions. From rounds 2 to 5, matches will be based on their win-loss records. Matches that decide elimination or advancement will be Bo3, while all others will be Best-of-One (Bo1).
Teams that rack up 3 wins will move on to the Knockout Stage, while those with 3 losses will be eliminated. Teams will choose their starting sides based on their initial seeding. Higher-seeded teams will have the first pick.
Knockout Stage: The Championship Showdown
Finally, we have the Knockout Stage (October 17th – 20th, October 26th – 27th, and November 2nd). The finals of all finals. Eight teams will then compete in a single elimination bracket at Worlds. Lose once, and you’re out!
Teams with Side Selection Privilege can choose which side to play on in Game 1, while the losing team gets to choose in the next game. In the Quarterfinals of Worlds 2024, the team with a better record from the Swiss Stage will have this privilege.
If both teams have the same record, the decision will be based on their draw order. In later matches, the side will be determined by a coin toss. All matches in the much-awaited knockout stage will be played in a Best-of-Five (Bo5) format.
