It’s Haaland dominance in this outing between Manchester City and Wolverhampton Wanderers at the Etihad Stadium to close the gap on the race for this season’s EPL title against Arsenal. The Norwegian striker led the charge by scoring on the 40’, 50’ (P), and 54’ and starved Wolves of chances in front of goal. Kevin de Bruyne and Aymeric Laporte enjoyed their respective successful returns to the pitch to experience a very comfortable victory for the host.

City moved to within two points of Premier League leaders Arsenal, while Wolves stayed one spot above the relegation zone on goal difference.

Pep Guardiola did see his side double their lead inside five minutes of the continuation as Gundogan almost lost the ball to Ruben Neves and still ended it inside the box as Haaland made no mistake and sent the ball past Sa at the back of the net.

Haaland scored his 25 goals across all tournaments this season, two more than Korean superstar Son Heung-min and Mohamed Salah. “He [Haaland] lives 24 hours for his job, passion, and love. He’s not stressed much. He is stable. He feels defeated. His numbers are incredible,” said City boss Pep Guardiola. “He has to get the balls delivered, he has fantastic players around him. The ball from Kevin is fantastic.

The way we played today was quite similar to the first-half when we were losing 2-0 to Spurs. Our game, football, was really good. Today we improved.”

Haaland also broke the Premier League record held by former Manchester United striker Ruud van Nistelrooy for the fastest player to four Premier League hat-tricks. The Norwegian international’s four hat-tricks came in four, while Nistelrooy’s in 65.

Manchester City defender John Stones had high praise for Haaland, saying; “That’s his quality. I’m so pleased for him again. He just keeps coming up with goals.”

“We have had a lot of good goals from different players coming off the bench, starting the games. Riyad [Mahrez] the other night. I didn’t want to just put it all on him. We all need to chip in and we are doing but when he scores three in a game it’s difficult!”

The Wolves manager Julen Lopetegui mustered all the courage and admitted to their mistakes in this match against the reigning champion, “We made mistakes, but the first half worried me more than the second half. It’s always possible to improve the squad while the window is open, but it’s important to improve the players who are already here.”

The Norwegian superstar’s remarkable 25-goal league from his 19 matches would possibly be enough to secure him a Premier League Golden Boot although the 60 goals in a season set by Dixie Dean in 1928, still remain in sight for Haaland.
