In order to pick those 21 NBA player participants, all 30 NBA teams submitted a rookie ballot and sophomore ballot featuring four frontcourt players, four guards, and two additional players of any positions, in order of preference. The only difference of this rising star voting format to an actual all-star voting is that the coaches were not allowed to vote for any player on their team.

The Jordan Rising Stars teams comprised of rookies and sophomores will be led by NBA legends serving as honorary head coaches: Pau Gasol, a two-time NBA champion; Joakim Noah, a two-time NBA All-Star and 2013-14 Kia NBA Defensive Player of the Year; and Deron Williams, a three-time NBA All-Star and two-time All-NBA Second Team member. While the G-League team will be guided by the 2008-2009 KIA NBA Sixth Man of the Year and 20011 NBA Champion for Dallas Mavericks Jason Terry, currently Jazz assistant coach and former head coach for the G League’s Grand Rapids Gold.

There will be also draft night to be held – except the G-League that are already set, the three teams comprised of NBA rookies and sophomores will be determined through this Jordan Rising Stars Draft to be led by Gasol (Team pau), Noah (Team Joakim) and Williams (Team Deron) choosing their preferred seven players.

The format of this rising star game is composed of three games with target final score, it means that the game will end on an actual shot or a free throw rather than a time expiring.

Then a two semi-final game will be played with a race of a score of 40. The final game will be played to a final target score of 25 to determine this year’s Jordan Rising Stars champion.
