With the final day of the All-star fan voting, Giannis Antetokounmpo of the Milwaukee Bucks has overtaken the Brooklyn Nets’ Kevin Durant for the third voting returns. Currently, the Nets Forward is out with a sprained MCL, causing Antetokounmpo to trail by 132,014 votes. While LeBron James remains the West leader in voting and if this continues until the D-day, then Giannis Antetokounmpo and LeBron James will be the captains of their respective teams and will feature for the third time a Team LeBron vs. Team Giannis in the All-star game. Here we will do a 2023 Mock All Star Draft for Team LeBron starters.
The All-Star draft works when the team leader or the captain will select four players to complete the starter and will select seven players as reserves.
Starters
Guard: Stephen Curry (GSW) – 5,151,822
In the last 2022 All-Star game, LeBron selected Steph Curry for his team and it will probably happened again as these two players, despite being rival on the court and faced to four NBA Final (2015-2018), they are good friends off and on the court, they are the two recent players that shaped the NBA landscape during the 2010s and now in 2020 era. Joining LeBron James in an All-Star game will be once again, phenomenal for basketball fans across the world, witnessing the two greats playing their hearts out and giving basketball fans a moment to be remembered.
Guard: Luka Doncic (DAL) – 4,905,655
The Dallas Mavericks superstar and Slovenia’s future, Luka Doncic, 23, is putting the NBA on notice and elevating his game to another level, putting himself in a contention for NBA MVP, against his co-European side Nikola Jokic. In the previous 2022 game, LeBron selected Luka as his reserve, but now, given his extraordinary performance, Doncic might be promoted and selected to a starting role.
Forward: Jimmy Butler (MIA) – 954,799
Similar to Luka Doncic, LeBron picked Jimmy Butler to his team as a reserve. Given to his performance this season, despite Miami Heat is struggling to get consistently in the eight spot in East division, he is still an All-Star caliber and capable of carrying the team to another deep playoff run, with right key pieces such as shooter and defender to add on their roster, Jimmy Butler might find a great success this season and it will translate in the All-Star game, with him teaming up again with LeBron James could be a great to watch for Miami Heat fans, which LeBron also played from 2010-2014 and won two championships.
Center: Nikola Jokic (DEN) – 4,718,218
Serbian Phenom, the reigning two-time MVP is continuing his magical output on the court, vying on his way to third straight MVP, is likely to be the first pick in the All-Star draft by LeBron James. Night after night, game after game he is producing abysmal numbers, a casual triple-double, and an all-around game that led his team to first seed in the very competitive Western Division. Teaming up with LeBron in the All-Star will have huge positive effects on the league; it might increase viewership, social media engagements, and could drive more market-friendly and advertising traffic to the league as a whole.
