The 31 year-old Brazilian International was in action in the Ligue 1 France previous match that featured his team Paris Saint-Germain and Lille. He scored the second goal of the match at the 17th minute to register his 18th goal this season.

Then, minutes into the second half, the Brazilian forward lays on the pitch after he sustained an injury following a contact with Lille’ French midfielder Benjamin Andre. He was stretched off the field in tears. The club then released a statement, addressing Neymar’s medical result following the injury.

“Additional tests today have confirmed that Neymar Jr has sprained his ankle, with some ligament damage. He will undergo further tests at the start of next week.” In the next Ligue 1 match, Paris Saint-Germain will have a showdown against the second-place at the current standing in Marseille before going to Bayern Munich for their second leg of the Champions League round of 16.

Now that Neymar will possibly be out for a couple of weeks, or worse for a month, the Paris Saint-Germain will have a bigger obstacle to face other than facing top-flight clubs in Europe, the club is plaguing with an injury.

Just last year’s World Cup, Neymar also damaged ligaments in the same ankle and this caused him two games before returning against croatia in the quarterfinals, where they lose via penalty shootout.

PSG ready to do changes

Paris Saint-Germain is ready to re-hire Thomas Tuchel if things still don’t go well with the current manager Christophe Galtier, according to various sources and reports. The Ligue 1 reigning champion is currently having a rough year to start the second half of the season despite maintaining their top spot at the Ligue 1 table. They were beaten by Bayern Munich in the first leg of the round of 16 of UEFA Champions League — the worst is that PSG might have finished their Champions League campaign early over the stacked and healthy top German club.

“He would also need assurances the club would be willing to protect him against player power and ask to be left to focus on coaching, without too much involvement in transfer market activity,” Tuchel told reporters.

“Tuchel is looking for a club that is competing for titles in any of Europe’s top five leagues having turned down at least one mid-table Premier League club already. Jose Mourinho has also been mooted as a potential option for the hot seat at Parc Des Princes but he is likely to remain at Roma.”
