Former Burnley boss Sean Dyche has been named as the next head coach of Everton, replacing the sacked Frank Lampard, the club announced. “Everton Football Club can confirm the appointment of Sean Dyche as the Club’s new Men’s Senior Team Manager,” Everton said in a statement. Dyche has agreed a two-and-a-half-year contract until June 2025 and will take charge for the first time for the Blues’ Premier League clash against Arsenal at Goodison Park on Saturday 4 February.” Read more for the latest soccer zone news and updates!
Considered as one of the best managers, Dyche has earned a lot of respect in the English football community. He guided Burnley to two promotions and solidified their position in the Premier League. He led them to seventh in the top flight in 2017/18, earning Europa League qualification. He was sacked by Burnley in the 2021-22 season after a spell of over nine years with the club.
“It’s an honour to become Everton manager. My staff and I are ready and eager to help get this great club back on track,” Dyche said. “We’re ready to work and ready to give them what they want. That starts with sweat on the shirt, effort and getting back to some of the basic principles of what Everton Football Club has stood for for a long time.”
He added: “We want to bring back a good feeling. We need the fans, we need unity and we need everyone aligned. That starts with us as staff and players. Our aim is to put out a team that works, that fights and wears the badge with pride. The connection with the fans can then grow very quickly because they’re so passionate. There is quality in this squad. But we have to make them shine.”
Increasing the team’s attacking prowess will be one of Sean Dyche’s main challenges. The Toffees have had difficulty scoring goals in previous games despite possessing a quality bunch of players, with the team’s lack of a clinical edge in front of goal frequently proving to be their downfall. Dyche will be required to address this matter and assist in creating a more unified, efficient attacking unit.
Last week, Lampard was removed from his post after a run of nine defeats in 12 Premier League matches. Everton are currently 19th in the league table after 20 matches – level on points with bottom club Southampton. His last game in charge with the Merseyside club was a 2-0 defeat at fellow strugglers West Ham United. They last won a league game in October when they beat Crystal Palace 3-0 at home.
