Frankfurt handed leaders Union Berlin 2-0 their first loss in the league to win their first home win of the season. Meanwhile, Freiburg propelled to second after a 2-1 win against Mainz.
Timo Werner scored a brace to help Leipzig claim victory against winless Bochum 4-0. In Saturday’s late game, Borussia Mönchengladbach visited promoted Werder Bremen to concede 5 goals and scored only 1. Holders PSG avoided defeat as Kylian Mbappe came to rescue 2-1 in coach Christophe Galtier’s reunion with his former side Nice. The defending champions reclaimed the top spot to Marseille, who earlier won at Angers 0-3. Ten-man Lorient extended its winning streak to five games after Bafode Diakite’s early own goal and a superb Theo Le Bris goal to break the equalizer and seal the win.
Promoted Toulouse beat Montpellier 4-2 in a match that was suspended for 15 minutes after tear gas was thrown onto the pitch by the visiting side.
