Spurs had a lot of chances throughout the entire game by getting good looks but could not translate any of it to draw even just a single point to draw in Portugal. This is a pretty disappointing road game for the contending Tottenham as they are really expected to dominate this match, instead they lose tremendously and injure themselves in the late minute of the game to give Sporting two goals to seal the victory for the home squad.
The presence of Son Heung-Min and Harry Kane did not feel in this match as they both struggled in scoring and contributed to the game. Son’s very poor performance has already marked his career this season. He is still relying on his baseline decent performance and hasn’t scored yet for the Hotspur. While Harry Kane recorded his worst performance this year, he disengaged himself in the match – bad passing, few shots, uninspiring, and low accuracy.
Sporting Lisbon grabbed the second three points in the Champions League sitting at the top spot of Group D and undefeated, while Tottenham sits at the second spot with 1 win and 1 loss record.
Antonio Conte pays his tribute to the passing of Queen Elizabeth II
Conte revealed that he went to Buckingham Palace after the death of the longest reigning monarch Queen Elizabeth II.
All Premier League matches were canceled in honor to the Queen’s “extraordinary life and contribution to the nation, and as a mark of respect”.
“Honestly, on Thursday, we were all sad because we are talking about a person whose service for this country was outstanding. I think that at this moment there is big sadness in the country for this and [I was] living this atmosphere in London.” he said (cited from Eurosports). “On Friday I went to Buckingham Palace like a normal person, because I am a normal person! I did it with a hat [on], to live this situation because I think for sure we will remember this for the rest of our lives.”
The Italian football mentor disguises himself by wearing a hat to lay flowers in front of Buckingham Palace and says that Thursday will be a moment to remember for the rest of his life.
