Get ready for The International 2024 (T13)! This year, the Dota 2 world championship is heading to Copenhagen, Denmark. The grand finals of one of the biggest esports tournaments will go live at the Royal Arena on September 13th to 15th.
Valve shook things up this year by skipping the Dota Pro Circuit and giving out direct invites based on the ESL Pro Tour (EPT) rankings. Sixteen teams are now locked in and prepping themselves for the Aegis of Champions. Dota 2 The International 2024 Schedule
The International 2024 kicks off on September 4 and wraps up on September 15! You can find the full schedule of how events are divided up below:
Group Stage (Sept 4-5):
– 16 teams get split into 4 groups.
– Each group battles it out to see who’s moving on.
Seeding Decider (Sept 6-7):
– All 16 teams play best-of-3 matches to determine their starting positions in the main event bracket.
Main Event (Sept 8-10 & 13-15):
– 16 teams fight in a double-elimination bracket.
– 8 start in the Upper Bracket, 8 in the Lower Bracket.
– The Grand Final is a best-of-5 showdown, while all other matches are best-of-3.
The International 2024 Prize Pool
Woah, the Dota 2 The International 2024 prize pool is looking rough this year! According to Dota 2’s prize tracker, it’s only at $2.3 million right now. A tad short of their usual prize pool, considering players usually pump it up way more.
Why so? Valve starts things off with a base prize pool of $1.6 million to get things started, but the rest comes from fans buying the TI Compendium. This year though, the Compendium is all about supporting teams and players, not flashy cosmetics like usual. Plus, there have been many new in-game events like Crownfall, where people can spend their money.
No surprise, then, that both pro players and regular folks aren’t that hyped about the Compendium. Last year’s prize pool was already the lowest in ages at around $3 million, and 2024 might be even worse. Unless they add some great stuff to the Compendium or have a sale, it might even be smaller than the old Dota Majors!

Team Spirit are guaranteed to be top of the pundits’ list for The International 2024 for obvious reasons: they snagged the Aegis back in 2021 and 2023. Majority of their players have won TI before, so it’s no surprise that they’re fan favorites for T13!
Team Liquid is also looking sprightly, especially after their T17 championship win. And coming in hot off the heels of their win for Dota 2 in the Esports World Cup 2024 is none other than Gaimin Gladiators. They placed second in the 2023 TI, but luck favors the brave, especially those with an international track record for being the best in the EWC!

Favored from the Regional Qualifiers teams is Tundra Esports, who won TI11 in 2022! Cloud9 may also come in hot as strong contenders for The International 2024, considering their record for placing 5th-6th during the 2024 TI.

The International 2024 Dota 2: Tournament Format
