12BET Poker Omaha FAQ

5 min read

Introduction

Pot Limit Omaha is yet another card game to sate the appetite of the most discerning card game fan. It also offers a lot of excitement for fans of live casinos and avid 12BET fans. The objective of the game is to have the best 5-card hand. Initially, players may receive 4 cards which are known as ‘Hole’ cards. This is followed by betting rounds and an additional distribution of 5 community cards. Players will create the best 5 card poker hand through this, consisting of exactly 2 cards from their hand and exactly 3 cards from the community cards.

Dealer Button

The dealer button is found near the end of the table. It is also the button which designates the acting dealer. In the game, the last active player is the player on the button. He or she also makes the last move on all post flop streets of play.

The Blinds

During the beginning of every round, two players must post blinds (forced bets). This will start a session of betting. Without the wagers to fuel the pot, the game isn’t exciting enough since there is nothing to win.

Antes

In Pot Limit Omaha, players also prepare Antes or a small agreed-upon amount that all players on the table places into the pot. This happens before cards are distributed. The Antes are also put up before Blinds are posted.

Pot-Limit

Minimum raise: The amount raised must be at least equal to the previous bet or raise in the previous round.

Maximum raise: The amount raised must be at least equal to the size of the active pot and all the bets on the table (2 x call amount)

Example: Player1 placed a bet 2000 making the total pot 3000. Now, Player2 can raise to a maximum of 9000 (3000 + 2000 + (2 x 2000)).

Gameplay

Once the Antes and Blinds are placed, players receive four Hole cards (what these cards are remain private). The 1st betting round begins with the player nearest to the Dealer button. The Flop (three community cards dealt in the center of the table) is also dealt.

The 2nd betting round begins afterwards. Play begins with an action from the player nearest the Dealer button. The “Turn” is also dealt after the Flop is laid down. The 3rd betting round begins after this, during which the “River” is dealt. The 4th and final betting round follows soon after.

Betting Round

During the betting round, players take their turns one at a time and in a clockwise fashion. The first person to make an action will always be the one nearest the dealer button. They can also make an act after the Big Blind has been posted during the 1st betting round. The players following the initial actor should then follow-up with one of these actions:

Check: Take a pass on the round and let the next player make a move. It can only be done if NO bet/raise has been made.

Call: If a player makes a bet/raises an amount, match the said amount.

Bet/Raise: Make a bigger bet within the limits set during the game.

Fold: In other words, surrender any claim on the money. You also need to discard your cards.

Showdown

There are a lot of similarities between this live casino game and other card games like Blackjack or Poker. The Showdown is one of them. During this round, players that are still active in the game will show their hands. The cards with the best Hand will win the Pot.

Winning Hand

Note: the winning hand should be a combination of cards from the player and from the ‘community. In other words, it should be from exactly 2 cards from the player’s hole cards and exactly 3 cards from the Community cards.
