The new English Premier League 2022/23 season is coming this weekend, and teams are preparing their squads for new challenges and exciting matches ahead. Manchester City remains the favorite to clinch the title they won last season. Liverpool, Chelsea and Tottenham are also likely to top the league table. Here is the list of predicted winners and losers of the 2022-23 season of EPL:

Champions: Manchester City

Manchester City have won 4 of the last five seasons, including the successful last season, and have now lifted six league titles in 11 seasons, making them the second most successful club in EPL. Unsurprisingly, they are the favorites to win this season as they acquired excellent talents in the recent transfer window, including Erling Haaland, who is one of the most prolific goalscorers in the world now.

He scored 86 goals in 89 appearances for Dortmund. His arrival will give City a huge boost as they will be without the likes of Raheem Sterling and Gabriel Jesus. City will head to their opening match against West Ham United with a loss against Liverpool in the FA Community Shield against Liverpool 3-1, ending their run of 5 wins and 1 draw since losing to Real Madrid 3-1 in the Champions League semi-final.

Likely To Win: Liverpool, Chelsea

The Reds will also have a chance to win their second title in 4 years. They finished second in the league table last season, taking the fight until the very last matchday as they closed the season with only a point behind City. Despite losing Sadio Mane to Bayern Munich, Liverpool banked on Darwin Nunez, who scored in his competitive game debut to help Klopp lift the FA Community Shield trophy.

Chelsea, on the other hand, has a potential in winning the league under new ownership. They made a couple of brilliant signings, with Raheem Sterling from City and Kalidou Koulibaly from Napoli following the on-loan exit of Romelu Lukaku. Aside from finishing third last season, they won the Club World Cup and UEFA Super Cup, and reached the finals of the FA Cup and EFL Cup–losing to Liverpool on penalties.

Look Out: Tottenham, Manchester United

Antonio Conte lifted Tottenham Hotspur to fourth place last season, securing them a spot in the Champions League this season. With Conte’s arrival and the intense training that players have to go through under his management, Spurs are likely to clinch their first league title in 14 years. Not to mention that Harry Kane and last season’s joint Golden Boot winner Son Heung-min will stay in the club.

Meanwhile, Manchester United’s new boss Erik ten Hag, may finally reclaim their former glory. He started his era with a successful pre-season tour in Thailand and Australia. Lisandro Martinez and Christian Eriksen are good additions to the team. Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial and Jadon Sancho trio also look good as well. However, Cristiano Ronaldo’s future remains uncertain.

Mikel Arteta’s goal for this season is to finish fourth and make a Champions League return. He lifted Arsenal from 11th place to the fifth place last season, only 2 points behind fourth place Tottenham. The Gunners signed Gabriel Jesus and Oleksandr Zinchenko both from Manchester City to strengthen their ranks. Bukayo Saka and Martin Ødegaard are also in good form.

Top Six Finish: Wolverhampton, West Ham United

Wolverhampton has to unleash the beast to achieve their best finish to date. They finished 10th in the league table last season. This season will see the return of full-fit key players Morgan Gibbs-White and Pedro Neto. Added to their ranks is Nathan Collins, who made a big impression last season despite Burnley’s relegation. 12BET, one of the best online gambling sites, is the sleeve sponsor of Wolves.

West Ham United finished sixth and seventh in the last two seasons. Following their successful Europa League campaign, reaching the semi-finals before losing to eventual winners Frankfurt, breaking into top 4 may be difficult but not impossible. The highlight of their summer signing is striker Gianluca Scamacca from Sassuolo. Declan Rice has also been appointed captain following Mark Noble’s retirement.

Relegation: Bournemouth, Leeds United, Southampton

Newly-promoted Bournemouth are the favorite to be relegated this season despite finishing as runners-up in England’s second tier. Head coach Scott Parker previously failed to keep Fulham in the top flight in the 2020/21 campaign and the same thing is likely to happen this season. As for Leeds, they escaped relegation in the last day win against Brentford, something that they might not duplicate this season.

Southampton also avoided relegation last season but ended poorly with 16 defeats and only 9 wins. The already-tired club were short on goals, scoring the second-fewest goals of any club that last season as they relied so much on inexperienced youth. Hasenhuttl’s experimentation might not work this time as more clubs above them has better summer move.
